[ Dick's at home, and there's some probably familiar chaos strewn around behind him.
But he's fine, everything is fine. He runs a hand through his uncombed hair, and because it's Loki a little of the facade slips there. ]
...You helped a lot.
no subject
[ Yeah, because that's all Loki did or thought about. ]
no subject
Because the truth is Loki had gone far above and beyond whatever hope he'd had for rescue from a contingency like this one. Dropped everything when he'd called despite being in the middle of a serious crisis of his own. He'd seen him safe, fed, and protected. He'd done that despite realizing, probably, that Dick is no one like who he'd said he was.
He doesn't know how to look that in the face and lie. He doesn't want to, even if Loki would let him. His tense hand drops. ]
Man. It's been... a day, but I was gonna check in as soon as-
[ Well.
But his focus shifts there, turning outward at once. He isn't the only one who'd needed help. Dick had not been able to return the favor. ]
Hey, are you alright? How's your magic now?
no subject
[ Brushing over his own stress levels with more smoothness than Dick manages, Loki continues to watch him steadily with assessing green eyes. ]
It's good to see you back to yourself. You were a cute kid, though.
no subject
But it's enough to crack the lid on a little self-effacing amusement. He doesn't shy away from Loki's gaze; blue eyes steady. ]
I'm lucky as hell I caught you.
no subject
So-ooo ... Did the little hellion mess up any other part of your life? Block all your bootycallers?
no subject
[ Which is honestly the part that's hardest to face up to now, as trivial as it is. Pouring money and time into a project like that was a different thing when you had three trust funds to work with and a billionaire father. ]
Let's just say Officer Grayson's gonna have a fun week at the station. [ That at least he can say with good humor. ]
no subject
You could always slack off and eat pizza with me in front of a movie. That's a viable option.
no subject
And postpone some well-earned fallout for a few hours? [ His grin is a little like the sun coming up. ]
...Yeah. Let's do that. You want to hang out? The place is a mess, but-
[ But he owes Loki food at the very least, and he actually does want to see him now more than he wants to preserve the illusion this wasn't unsettling as hell. ]
no subject
[ Teleporting without warning, suddenly simply there in the middle of Dick's apartment as he closes the call on his phone, Loki smiles over at him after a cursory glance around. ]
'Sup.
no subject
[ Dick is still beaming when he appears, and whatever Loki he's giving you a hug, past a blink-and-you'll-miss-it flicker of hesitation. ]
no subject
Never knew the offer of pizza had such a strong effect on you.
[ Huffing a soft laugh. Yes, deflection, his second favourite tool next to misdirection. ]
no subject
I love my anchovies. [ Deflection is a go. ]
I'm buying this time. You've done enough for one week, alright?
no subject
Sure, sure. Feed me like one of your French girls, Jack!
[ Making his way over to the couch, which he may start rearranging according to his preferred comfort levels. Dick probably didn't have that many cushions to start off with, but ah well. ]
no subject
So I might've done myself a favor with the boxes, at least. Been thinking about going out-patient. [ Haha, he's hilarious.
He sags down onto the sofa beside Loki at last, a little loose-limbed with uncharacteristic tiredness. ]
My kid brothers are in town now.
no subject
And have they been running you ragged? You make them sound like a small army.
no subject
But that's kind of why I feel like it's time? They need someone they can count on.
[ And that hadn't been him, for a few weeks there. ]
no subject
[ Browsing the TV for movies, he glances back to Dick. ]
So, who are they?
no subject
Tim's is the one I knew from home. He was a kid when I left. [ A little wistfully, which he can't help. Tim isn't a kid now. ]
Damian's, uh- something else.
Reminds me of me at that age. [ Small and angry and desperately needy. ]
no subject
[ He spreads his hands. ]
Small world.
no subject
Thought you two might get along.
